Another aspect is the structure of the souls community. It is relatively small (I mean those who are really ready to play and replay the Souls series) and the perspective to lure casual players into a hardcore game frankly little.

And last, but not least, the token. On paper everything is good, but in fact the token was dumped for a couple of days, but then the price dropped sharply. Luckily it has risen a bit recently. But for how long?

Like we see so often after their initial release to the public, the token price dumped. In 5 days it went from $0.017 to 0.0058 at time of writing (28-05-23) thats a loss of 65,49% for anyone participating in the public round.

This price will only recover if they are able to bring their game to market and its fun enough for the gamers to invest in, with their current selected technology i am not convinst that this will be the case. Not a bad thing for the gamers that will play but a bad thing for the investors that supported the project. Everyone that is still in will have to hold it till the game is finished or take their losses.

Not by having 1 really good account. but spawning 1000 accounts that preform average or even below to prevent from being caught. There is no counter party that can flag accounts because everyone is doing their own runs.

This engine involves a different way of building, with more features and better designs. Simply copying the first game into the other won't make it look better; at best, it might run a little bit faster. However, it won't be an easy process.

But for me the biggest mistake is the use of the Blockchain technology they sellected. Their NFTs will be on Ethereum and their tokens will be on Polygon. I think its a bad move to have this split and having your NFTs on ethereum doesnt add anything but very high gas fees and slow transactions.

If the game would be a hit, like for example Diablo has 307k players are online everyday, They will be buying and selling items, resources, potions ect. But if we assume to do 1 buy and sell per day, (if it are less items your gamers feel like they don't make any process so your gameplay will be the killer) then you already have 60% of the current daily transactions on ETH. that chain isnt able to handle that kind of transaction load at this point.

Yes ETH will improve but that is outside your control so you are depending on others to make the system work, i think its a bad deal. Specially if your tokens are already on Polygon, why not put your NFTs there too.

The Unfettered TGE occurred today (05-23-23).

It was released on two CEXs (MEXC & GATE) and listed on QuickSwap DEX (Polygon).

The launch wasn't impressive, but, in all fairness, any project attempting to launch now would need nothing short of a miracle to achieve any success. This is not some well-kept secret, so almost no projects are launching under these market conditions.

Hence, I can't help but wonder why this project disregarded the warning signs and proceeded regardless. It likely aligned with some aspect of the game launch or internal factor they felt they couldn't postpone. Regardless of the reasons, the investors are the ones who suffer the most here, so this is minus one star in my book.

The second problem I have is becoming all too common: pre-launch manipulation!

Whether it's incompetence within the team when dealing with the Liquidity Pool (LP), insider manipulation, or a myriad of other reasons, this is bad, and I've deducted another star for this reason. You can see for yourself here:

I would have reduced my rating to one star if it weren't for three factors, which you can clearly see in the image below.

1) The pre-launch transactions were mostly purchases, so if there is a silver lining, it would be that the price increased, but it could have easily swung the other way.

2) The price hasn't fallen below the IDO price of $0.009 (as of the time of writing), which attests to the project's strength. I've seen numerous IDOs quickly fall under the IDO in the last 60 to 90 days, so only the early investors remain profitable, while the Public Round investors bear the brunt.

3) Retail investors (99% of us) can enter this project at a great price, which in the long run, will be much healthier for the project.

This is a GameFi project, so I want to look at how the SOUL token will be used in the game and how the team at The Unfettered has come up with some cool deflationary mechanisms to offset the inflationary emissions from staking, and so on.

As an OG Diablo addict, I would have loved a system like this back in the day where I could have earned tokens (real revenue) for all the hours I spent adventuring and hacking open treasure chests.

Most Web2 games have some in-game marketplace where you can trade, upgrade, or sell the items you find, but it's only for in-game fake gold, silver, or whatever. Now that games like The Unfettered have crossed the Web3 barrier, you can earn tokens to redeem for real money. There are also numerous NFT marketplaces where you can list the items (NFTs) and aim for even bigger rewards. You can even rent out your items!

The Unfettered team also plans to offer traditional staking to give their non-gaming investors an opportunity to make some passive income.

Gone are the days when you had to go to special websites to strike a deal with a stranger who would PayPal you $10 if you met up in the game at some predetermined spot and drop your items for them to pick up. Now it's all on-chain.

So now that we've talked about how to earn SOUL (inflationary part) let's talk about a couple of cool ways they will support a deflationary model to keep the SOUL at a stable value.

Here are some of the primary in-game deflationary mechanisms:

Some of the character's SOUL is burned upon a character’s death! How cool is that? Finally, some real skin in the game!

Do you want a second chance to continue with that character from where you died, with all your items? Well, that will burn even more SOUL!

The next cool thing is equipment wear. Once you have your badass flaming sword of soul reaping you are using to slay through the AI-based NPCs like a hot knife through butter, you'll need to spend SOUL to keep it in top shape.

Lastly, there will be weekly burns of SOUL based on earnings from the in-game marketplace. That's right, as players spend SOUL for cool weapons, spells, and upgrades, a portion of that SOUL will be burned!

Another cool feature, which is not directly deflationary but is more of a means to control inflation, is a slick “limiting mechanism” inspired by PoW mining difficulty. They will track individual players’ weekly earnings and apply a damping factor to keep inflation under control. Also, it is common in these games that players can gain too quickly via hacks or bugs. If that happens, the system can ban the player and burn the SOUL they unfairly acquired. Too cool!!

I no longer have time to play games like this, but I might try to sneak a couple of hours here or there to scratch my old-school gaming itch. I really love how this game has real money implications for winning, losing, and especially for cheating. This is a full 5-star tokenomics in my spell book!

I view them more as passing trends that offer quick profit opportunities until a sustainable and proven model emerges. Instead, I prefer engaging with the games themselves and earning tokens through gameplay, rather than actively purchasing them as speculative investments. Especially when considering the new generation of Play 2 Earn games like the Unfettered, which showcase impressive graphics and captivating storylines. In the past I've had experiences with underwhelming games like Axis Infinity during its hype playing soley for its SLP, so I believe I'll genuinely enjoy playing games like the Unfettered, and earning tokens will simply be an added bonus derived from the enjoyment of the gaming experience. This approach feels refreshing in the Play 2 Earn space.

In the whitepaper, it states: "the release of the full version Unreal Engine 5 is scheduled for early 2022. Therefore, The Unfettered will start on Unreal Engine 4 and transition to Unreal Engine 5 as soon as rolled out." However, making such a transition takes considerable time and with a plan to launch the full game  by the end of Q4 2023 on UE4 and then migrate it to UE5 after release, one wonders how long it will take for the game to have the cinematic sound and quality that UE5 can offer. With a number of other games already using UE5 (e.g., Illuvium, Star Atlas) and other games being released soon (e.g., Oxya Origin, Walker World), Unfettered may be left in the dust quite quickly. They might be better off switching over and waiting to launch rather than releasing a mediocre version of their game too early.

Other tech (that I'm honestly not familiar with, but which might impress the gamers out there) includes the Nanite graphic engine for the environments, the Chaos physics engine for interactivity and in game assets, the Niagra particle solution delivering real time simulation of millions of particles and Lumen, an illumination solution delivering dynamic lightening and shading.

The CEO and CTO have both co-founded Awkay Studios which seems to be a studio that develops blockchain based games, however The Unfettered is the only game they have worked on prior to this studio being set up over 2 years ago. The website for Awkay Studio https://awkaytech.io/ is very limited and doesn’t reveal much if anything about them which is a bit worrying.

The Co-Founder / CEO, Anil Evci has no major relevant industry experience prior to this project which is a bit concerning and even more so concerning a big lack of previous leadership roles he has had. His background has varied a lot from being a writer to an engineer to operations / project manager.

On a side note and worth nothing the project has some solid partnerships and experienced financial backers by their sides especially in the industry field they are trying to conquer. The team will need to lean heavily into this experience from the alliances they have made if they want to prove themselves and make this project become a prolonged success.

The Unfettered has grown a community of 84.6k followers on Twitter, 21.7k in their Discord, 16k in their Telegram 16k and 7.6k subscribers on their Youtube 7.67k.

While decent numbers they are not overly impressive when pitted against their main rivals in the P2E space so they will need to do some marketing to improve on these numbers to generate a bigger community to surround the game.

From overlooking their Discord, Telegram and Twitter I see minimal interaction going on in these pages especially constructive interactions from the community and the project’s team going back and forth.

I think the project could deploy more regular community interaction methods as I am struggling to find when their next AMA is or any upcoming events the project team will be at to promote the game.

Ultimately I would like a bit more buzz around the project as when I scroll through their socials I am not getting that vibe right now even though the gameplay appears to be impressive and they are on the brink of launching their IDO.

The Unfettered has grown a community of 84.6k followers on Twitter, 21.7k in their Discord, 16k in their Telegram 16k and 7.6k subscribers on their Youtube 7.67k.

While decent numbers they are not overly impressive when pitted against their main rivals in the P2E space so they will need to do some marketing to improve on these numbers to generate a bigger community to surround the game. 

From overlooking their Discord, Telegram and Twitter I see minimal interaction going on in these pages especially constructive interactions from the community and the project’s team going back and forth.

I think the project could deploy more regular community interaction methods as I am struggling to find when their next AMA is or any upcoming events the project team will be at to promote the game.

In addition to the game’s story mode, The Unfettered has planned the integration of two exciting systems called ‘The Arena’ and ‘The Co-Op’ during Phases 2 and 3 of the game's development. I really like this as most truly successful games now days  provide players with competitive gaming environments where you can challenge other online gamers in real time.

With its unique and appearing to be very enjoyable gameplay mechanics that are currently unmatched in the industry of blockchain gaming, The Unfettered is helping to bridge that gap between web2 + web3 and with relevant backers such as Animoca onboard they have the right investors behind them to help stir the ship to achieve this goal.

Animoca, etc. invested $2.5M one year ago. It's not clear which funding round is this one? Did they buy equity of the business or tokens or hybrid of the two?

advisors: 5% I think that's too much considering the team that is full time only get two times as much, are people working 1h a week really creating that much value??
to reward players: 30% + 5% (airdrop) + 10% (farming/staking): 1.35B (45%) that's good as long as it is allocated slowly and dynamically adjusted with the market adoption
liquidity pool: 2%, 60M tokens @ $0.009 (already pre-defined which is not ideal, it should be priced based on market adoption): To fund this liquidity pool they will need $540K, that's a pretty small pool that is likely to be highly volatile.

from public sale: 25% of 60M = 15M token that have no capital gain unless the price go up significantly above $0.009, so not too concern of the selling volume from them.
private sale: 5% of 210M = 10.5M token that were bought at $0.006 ($94.5K of potential selling volume for people to get 33% ROI, not super interesting, I'd say low chance of high selling volume from that as well.
pass-exclusive sale: 25% of 23,819,600 tokens = 6M tokens that were bought at  $0.005 ($53,594 of potential selling volume but for a 44% ROI, still low enough so I'm not afraid of that selling pressure.
seed sale & strategic sale: no vesting at TGE, so I feel very safe the price will go up at TGE, that's very rare I'm happy with a scenario like this. I think the only tokens that may get sold at TGE are the 2% of marketing tokens, but I suspect the demand will outpace this selling pressure.

Looks like the team will be out the door 24 months after TGE, so if the game is good, I'd probably buy and sell in the first year before the team complete their first 1 year cliff. I wish they had optimized their economies to last for more than 1 game, like for the entire life of the game studio, that's too bad. Anyway, good enough I'll keep them in my mind to potentially invest if the game is good which is a very rare thing for me to say.
