I'm not a fan of this project. The land is very expensive and the experience is underwhelming.

I actually signed up for an account and took my avatar for a spin. As I looked around, the action of my avatar was very limited and the environments were still very blocky and not engaging. Another big downside is that it's built on Ethereum.

This primarily seems to be a consumption based model and not a model that focuses on delivering an amazing alternate reality.

That said, this is one of the most established metaverse projects out there, so this project could have a first mover advantage. In addition, they do a good job of creating a marketplace for virtual goods, which keeps the currency flowing.

But all in all, I don't find this project interesting and it seems like a lot of overpriced virtual products.

According to dAppRadar for on-Chain activity, MANA has 550 active users on average per week that perform transaction on chain. The actual number of users might be closer to 8000 according to the company claims. They generated around $30M of revenue per year in the last year. These numbers are disputed by the community which claim daily active users is closer to 38.

Meanwhile, Ubisoft total market cap is $2.5B for around 117M daily active players generating $2.37B of revenue.

With these numbers, it is very difficult to comprehend why the $1.4B is warranted. It is very unlikely Facebook or other companies would attempt to buy Decentraland, which is most likely the reason why metaverse projects have been overvalued so much since 2021.
