WifiMap is one of the best examples I have seen of a successful web2 business model transitioning into web3. Created in 2014 this ingenious connectivity platform is built around the concept of crowdsourcing public WiFi hotspots into a singular, communal online database.
In 2022 WifiMap's creators unveiled the inception of $WIFI – a utility token designed to bring the project into web3. This token was manufactured to unlock exclusive services within the app and offer a unique incentive structure to improve the growth of the platform via a 'connect-to-earn' model.
With an already existing community of 150 million users + a service with a profound/relevant use case, I believe this project could achieve its goal and become one of the first superapp’s.
