The statement "price appreciation comes from usage of token. Marketing is for useless, hype-based projects. Read up about tokenomics and you'll understand" is a fundamental principle of the Truebit project.
While I agree that strong projects require less advertising, I feel that this approach is too simplistic. For instance, the project's FAQ on their website states that they do not want to be contacted about listing possibilities, which may reflect overconfidence in their technology. You do need to be found, right? However, marketing can be done effectively without cheapening the product. As a researcher, I know that studies have shown that marketing can be profitable.
While I understand that Truebit may have their reasons, I give them a low rating for marketing because it can be an effective tool to promote a product. This is also a reason for me to not invest and in my "Buy?" review I explain why and how they can address this issue. Show Less
