The appointment of Denelle Dixon as CEO of Stellar in 2019 has always raised some questions for me. Dixon's background primarily lies in law, having worked at Folger Levin & Kahn LLP as an Associate and later as a Partner. She also held positions at Yahoo, Terra Firma, and Mozilla Corporation, where she eventually became the Chief Operating Officer over a span of ten years.

While Dixon's experience in leading operations and her involvement in policy support around the Open Internet, encryption and privacy can potentially benefit Stellar, I believe that her background does not truly/directly align with the project's goals. I would say that a CEO from the banking or money transfer world could bring more relevant connections and expertise considering Stellar's aim to penetrate the financial world.

I am not saying that Dixon is not undoubtedly a smart and talented individual. However given the magnitude of the project and its aspirations to become a prominent player in the banking system for the transfer of money, I believe that a CEO from the finance world might have been a more strategic choice that could have provided better guidance and industry-specific insights. Considering Stellar's declining volume and transaction fees since 2019 when Denelle was appointment, these observations also contribute to the argument that her appointment may not have been the most optimal move for the CEO position.
