Solana Unveils New ‘Seeker’ Smartphone with Web3 Focus

Solana Mobile has announced the Seeker, its second-generation web3 smartphone, set for release in 2025. Launched at Token2049, the phone has already garnered over 140,000 pre-orders from 57 countries. The Seeker aims to be more accessible and affordable than its predecessor, the Solana Saga, with deeper web3 integration.

📍Key Features

The Seeker boasts the Seed Vault Wallet for secure crypto transactions, along with a revamped Solana dApp Store 2.0 for payments, NFTs, DeFi, and gaming. A special Genesis Token, a soulbound NFT, will offer exclusive rewards and content within the Solana ecosystem.

📍Improved Design

Compared to the Saga, the Seeker offers a lighter build, brighter screen, better camera, and longer battery life. Early pre-sale pricing is set at $450, available until Sept. 21.

📍Saga’s Lessons Fuel Seeker’s Success

The Seeker builds on the lessons from the Saga, which initially faced slow sales but found success after a BONK token airdrop boosted demand. The Saga eventually sold out in the U.S., with over 150,000 units sold by the end of 2023. The Seeker aims to push web3 mobile adoption even further.

📍Personal Comment Solana’s push into web3 mobile is an exciting step forward, particularly with the Seeker’s improved features and lower price point. If it can overcome early challenges like the Saga faced, the Seeker has strong potential to make web3 technology more accessible and drive wider adoption.
