A comprehensive and insightful overview of the latest innovations and features was provided by Karlos K so feel free to check it out. I would like to take a closer look at Polygon`s innovation - zkEVM, since the use of Zero-Knowledge proofs is potentially "game-changing" in this current state of the Web3 industry.
Polygon zkEVM is Type 2 zkEVM - EVM equivalence(according to Vitalik Buterin`s statement. Not a full ETH equivalence(it affects security) Basically, that means(for devs and users):
- Support of Ethereum dev tooling. You almost copy-pasta your Solidity code.
- More speed
- More privacy
- Enhanced security of bridges. Operating a bridge - A smart contract on L1 and a smart contract on L2. Intermediary - cryptography. Because the bridge for Polygon zkEVM will rely on cryptography, with the smart contract verifying a valid proof, there’s no entity that can be attacked.
- Lower costs. Despite sidechains being cheaper than ETH themselves, zkEVM reduces even such costs. ("The cost to the individual user sending one ERC-20 token? $0.0001 ")
Personally very bullish on Zero-Knowledge. I am eagerly anticipating the arrival of the next era of transactions that will be made possible with Polygon's ZK solution. Essentially, this means that as users, we can expect the most favorable conditions for all our financial transactions on the network. Show Less
