A cold wallet, reportedly owned by the Salvadoran government, has been purchasing one Bitcoin every day since March 16, adding 162 Bitcoin to the nation’s overall holdings.
According to data from Arkham Intelligence, the wallet labeled as belonging to El Salvador currently holds 5,851 Bitcoin, valued at approximately $356.4 million. The wallet’s transaction history indicates a consistent pattern of adding one Bitcoin daily, with the latest purchase recorded at $60,500. However, there have been instances where the wallet made small BTC acquisitions, with values below $100.
Crypto analyst EmberCN estimates that the average acquisition cost of El Salvador's Bitcoin holdings is $44,835, giving the country a floating profit of $93.45 million based on current market values.
These purchases are part of President Nayib Bukele's commitment to buy one Bitcoin per day until the cryptocurrency becomes "unaffordable." When the program began, El Salvador moved 5,689 BTC into the cold wallet, valued then at $386 million, which Bukele referred to as the country's first "Bitcoin piggy bank."
