Blur is Opensea's first real competitor. (Anyone that says LooksRare is lying to themselves).
Reading and studying the LooksRare playbook, Blur kicked off its launch with a similar concept: airdrop, staking, farming, etc.
Blur took that strategy and brought it up to a whole new level. With loyalty points, unique measurement systems, a gamified economy, and most importantly: zero fees. They went straight after the biggest players by basically encouraging wash trading in exchange for airdrops.
But wouldn't wash trading ruin a platform? It usually does, but that's where the kickass product comes into play. After reeling potential users in with the airdrop and rewards, Blur naturally pitched a platform that was so intuitive and better than Opensea that users simply couldn't stop using it; even when the airdrop narrative seemed to slow down.
I am excited to see where Blur goes next, Opensea is long overdue for a shakedown. Show Less
