Avalanche, once a rapidly growing blockchain project, is now struggling to maintain its momentum. According to recent data, the number of active addresses on its C-Chain has reached a 12-month low of 31,000, mirroring levels seen in October 2023. This significant decline from its peak of 99,000 active addresses in December 2023 has raised concerns about the network's ability to retain user engagement.
Despite processing around 150,000 transactions daily, the fewer number of active addresses raises questions about the distribution of activity among users. This could indicate that most users are only transacting sporadically or that a smaller group of users is dominating the network.
Avalanche was designed to overcome the scalability issues that plagued older blockchain networks. Its unique consensus mechanism and multi-chain architecture aim to provide the ideal combination of blockchain design: decentralization, scalability, and security. However, the latest figures suggest that the project may be facing challenges in achieving these goals, particularly in terms of maintaining user engagement.
