Akash is a decentralized cloud provider that compete with AWS, Google Cloud and Microsfot azure. It doing so by allowing users to sell or buy cloud resources. Today an enormous number of validator and Dapps are using centralized cloud provider (AWS GC MA) which compromise the decentralization. A good point for Akash Network is that it is cheaper than their centralized competitor using a “reverse auction” system. Imo decentralize cloud is important for privacy and security, when using a centralized cloud provider you are subject to a single point of failure (for those in France you probably heard about OVH, their data center burned down and the data hosted by their severs was lost), and that is without speaking about privacy issue. An other point is that the code is open source so it can be audited by anyone. Akash Network is on the right path to take a nice market share from the leaders in that field, especially with the need of decentralization. Akash has several competitor in the crypto space such as Filecoin and Arweave but Greg Osuri (founder and CEO) is doing a great job lately by being very vocal and interviewed several times last year.
