Ethereum Price Forecast: ETH tackles $1,688 resistance as Vitalik Buterin proposes swapping the EVM for RISC-V

Vitalik Buterin, Ethereum’s co-founder, proposed replacing the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) with RISC-V, an open-source architecture, to achieve up to 100% efficiency gains in the execution layer. This change aims to address scaling bottlenecks and simplify operations, with potential implementation methods to maintain developer experience. However, Adam Cochran from Cinneamhain Venture warned that this shift could disrupt Ethereum’s Layer 2 (L2)-focused roadmap by reducing L2 value, requiring significant technical effort.
