Puppynet, the testnet version of Shiba Inu's Shibarium layer-2 solution, is preparing for significant technical upgrades, according to an announcement on Friday.
One of the key components, Bor, will receive a new version alongside the Cancun hard fork implementation. These updates aim to deliver faster transaction speeds, improve storage efficiency, and enhance overall user experience.
Testnets, like Puppynet, simulate real network functions without any value, offering developers a safe space to experiment and fix vulnerabilities. This prevents major losses before deployment on live networks. Ethereum, for example, uses testnets like Sepolia and deprecated ones like Goerli and Kovan.
Earlier, in August, Shibarium introduced a Bore update with a burn mechanism designed to strengthen the ecosystem, initially tested on Puppynet back in February.
